Digital X-Rays & Intraoral Photography

Digital X-Rays

Our office uses the latest in digital x-ray technology. Digital x-rays offer a detailed image of your entire mouth and also offer up to 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays. Using this sophisticated technology, Dr. Resuta, Robbins and Filipovic are able to get a clear picture of the teeth, bones, and joints.

X-rays play an invaluable role in the diagnosis of dental problems, as well as provide a clear picture for us to accurately diagnose and provide the necessary treatment.

We place a small sensor in your mouth and then an x-ray beam is sent through your teeth and into the sensor, which records the image of your teeth and sends it to the computer. The sensor can then be repositioned to image other sections of your teeth.

The digital dental x-ray system is more sensitive than dental x-ray film systems, so your exposure to x-rays is cut by as much as 80 percent. The large and color-enhanced images let you see what your dentist sees, so it’s easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth. Your dental checkups take less time, and it’s fun to watch this system work! Most patients are amazed.

Because they don’t require chemicals to develop or space to store, digital dental x-rays are eco-friendly. The digital images can be kept in the patient’s digital dental records without concern for quality loss over time. The digital format can also be easily shared with other medical professionals when needed.

Dental x-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Without x-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

Dental x-rays may reveal:

  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Bone loss
  • Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors
  • Decay between the teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Poor tooth and root positions
  • Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

Intraoral Camera/ Digital Photography

X-rays provide us with invaluable information, but they cannot give a perfect reading of your oral health. An Intraoral camera can significantly increase precision in diagnosis. This highly advanced piece of equipment allows you to see what we see.

This tiny video camera enables us to zoom in on one tooth with 25 times magnification, or give you visual access to your entire mouth. A monitor displays and pinpoints potential problems such as cavities, broken fillings, plaque, and other important factors. Images can even be printed for your personal records.

With the Intraoral camera, you are a direct participant in your diagnosis. Seeing and understanding your oral health can help you make sound decisions about treatment, and give you peace of mind.

Digital Photography enables us to review your current smile and how you look in the eye of the camera. This is very helpful in designing your beautiful new smile or assessing the needs of the patient. We can get instant images that can be placed on the computer screen or printed out and stored for future reference and documentation.
